Dr Alan Altham completed his M.B.B.S. at the University of Notre Dame before completing his internship at Royal Perth Hospital. He entered Psychiatry Training in 2018, concerned with treating mental Health Consumers in rural areas and the lack of access to quality health care.
During his training, he held various leadership positions, including President of the West Australian Association of Psychiatrists in Training, Chair of the RANZCP of the binational Trainee Representative Committee, RANZCP Education Committee Member, RANZCP Accreditation Committee Member, and member of both the WA Branch Committee and the WA Branch Training Committee. He was also involved in the WA Health Sustainable Health Review.
He has since relocated to the remote North West of Western Australia. He holds a senior clinical lecturer position within the Rural Clinical School of Western Australia and the University of Western Australia. He is a clinical debriefing tutor at the University of Notre Dame.
Until recently, he was appointed to the Federal AMA Council of Rural Doctors. He remains passionate about reducing rural health disparity and the physical health needs of our consumers.
Professor Poppy is our therapy greyhound and is often seen in the background of video consultations.
She enjoys long walks, sniffing a lot, and occasionally abandoning me when the others have left snacks unattended.
